Considered to be the highest form of yoga, kundalini yoga is associated with the awakening of the chakras (Spheres) or the kundalini in the body. Unlike normal yoga, it is passed on from a master to a disciple under strict ascetic settings, wherein the failure to do so may lead to more harm than good.
Origin of the world ‘kundalini’
Kundalini is a word which has its origin in the Sanskrit word of ‘kundala’, meaning coiled. It refers to an energy source which when awakened through the right yogic practices and postures may lead one to discover the highest levels of self-awakening, insight, spirituality and eternal bliss attained through ‘Moksha’ ( the state of being freed from the cycle of birth and death for once and all and coming in unison with the all mighty).
Chakras (Spheres) and their significance in the human anatomy
The path of Kundalini is said to proceed from the first (Muladhara Chakra) at the lower end of the spinal column up to the seventh (Sahasara Chakra) at the top of the head. And beyond this comes the pinnacle or the eighth or the final chakra leading to the highest levels of spirituality or a state of aura leading to pure joy, pure knowledge and pure love. However, achieving the pinnacle is the toughest, but once achieved, one would exude radiance where forces of universe will be more than obliged to fulfil all your needs and desires.
